Myra V. Whitener earned her law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000. At UNC Law, she was a member of Phi Delta Phi and served as a teaching assistant for the legal research and writing program on campus. Prior to attending law school, Myra received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Wake Forest University, where she was a full Hankins and Poteat Scholar and a magna cum laude graduate.
Myra practiced law for approximately 19 years before joining the Green Law Firm, initially handling defense and business litigation, including personal injury and general insurance defense, construction litigation, employment law, and toxic tort litigation. In 2006, Myra transitioned to Family Court as an Assistant Solicitor for Charleston County, spending eight years primarily prosecuting juvenile criminal cases in the Family Court Division, and then later she became a lead trial attorney handling abuse and neglect cases in Family Court for the Department of Social Services.
Myra’s time spent in Family Court and her work with victims has given her a unique perspective on helping others, and she puts that experience into practice every day through her work in advocating for those who have been injured.
Myra is a member of the South Carolina Bar and the Charleston County Bar Association, and she is admitted to practice in South Carolina and the United States District Court of South Carolina.
A native of North Carolina, Myra moved to Charleston in 2002 with her husband, Benjamin, and they live in the West Ashley area with their two daughters. Myra loves the beauty of Charleston and in her spare time can usually be found on a soccer field watching her daughter’s games or at the beach with family.
