Mother and Children Struck by Truck in Cumberland

A late Saturday truck crash on Old Mount Pleasant Road sent a mother and her two children to the hospital for treatment of apparently minor injuries, according to the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred at 10:42 p.m. when a 2006 Chevy truck used to tow two other vehicles traveled off the roadway and into a ditch.

The driver was able to exit the wrecked truck but a mother and her two children were trapped.

They were removed from the vehicle by first-responders and taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by the Cumberland Fire Department ambulance.

Bowman’s Addition EMS and Bedford Road and Baltimore Pike volunteer fire departments also responded to the scene upon alert by the Allegany County 911 Emergency Center.

The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
