Two Arrested During DUI Checkpoint

Saturday night, police had set up a checkpoint for DUI at Arrowwood and Gracern Roads, and were able to make two separate arrests.

29-year old men Everette Houston, and Michael David Dean are both facing DUI charges, as told by Columbia police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons on Sunday.  Mr. Houston is from Mariette, Georgia, while an address for Mr. Dean was not obtainable.

S.C. Highway Patrol and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department were assisting the Columbia police that night.  It’s normal for police to use several cars in the making of a checkpoint.  This is to ensure a capture if a driver should try to flee.  The exact times of the checkpoint were not released to the public, because they wanted to be able to stop drunk drivers unexpectedly.
